Adana

Adana is Turkey’s 5th most populated city with a population of 1.75 million inhabitants. Adana Turkey tourism is a cultural treat, as many ancient civilizations have called this part of the world home in the past. Located roughly in the middle of the southern coast of Turkey Adana, is famous for many things in Turkey, most notably the famous Adana Kebab, a traditional beef meat dish. Historically, Adana has played an important role throughout history, hosting different civilizations from the ancient Greeks, to the Romans and the Seljuks. It’s position held significance being situated along one of the oldest trade routes from Europe to the Middle East.

Today, on a modern map one can notice the Taurus mountains to the left of Adana, beyond which Mersin and a bit further Antalya can be found. To the right on the south-eastern border is the historical Ceyhan river which separates Adana from Ceyhan.

Tourist attractions in Adana Turkey involve visiting historical sites like Anazarbos, one of the UNESCO world heritage tentative sites from 2014. Located within the boundaries of Dilekkaya village south of the Kozan district, the ancient city is still standing tall, extending off the side of the Taurus mountains. Once a thriving roman military base from the 1st century BCE, the site was successfully dated and categorized from the coins of the ‘Anazarbeon’ civilization, found laying around in the castle walls.
