Honey Valley
Honey Valley (Ballidere), sometimes called Love Valley, is home to some of the most impressive and breathtaking Fairy Chimneys in the Cappadocia region. The valley is scattered with hundreds of the thick, cone topped pillars that are an icon of the region. Formed over millennia by wind and rain erosion the remaining rock catches the sunlight and changes colours throughout the day. It's a paradise for photographers and geologists alike.
Honey Valley can be visited from Goreme or Uchisar, the two main tourist towns in the region with good transport to nearby towns and attractions. A 5-kilometre hiking trail connects the Goreme to Uchisar, where you can enjoy lunch in a local restaurant and visit Uchisar Castle; passing through Honey Valley the route provides a spectacular panorama over neighbouring valleys and more dazzling cloud-like rock formations. There is a small stream that runs through the valley which provides a good guide if you plan to walk the length of the Valley. Honey Valley is also connected by trails to Pigeon Valley and Love Valley which lies close to the Open Air Museum.
Honey Valley is a common stopping point on Cappadocia day tours, it is possible to visit by minibus, Jeep safari, Quad Bike, by Horse or on foot. The panorama over Honey Valley is a popular spot to watch the sunset and Hot Air Balloons tours offer fantastic opportunities to watch the sunrise over this uniquely magical region.
