Sanliurfa Archaeology and Mosaic Museum

The Sanliurfa Archaeology and Mosaic Museum is a great place to experience the history of this biblical land. Located close to the sacred pool, following its rebuild in 2015 it became one of the largest museums in Turkey. The museum offers recreation beside explore the 34,000 square metre interior with restaurant, library, market, and even a playground for children.

The displays are split into two sections, Mosaic and Archaeology. The Mosaic section was created after the eventual hand over of the Orpheus from Dallas Museum. This classic style mosaic was created in 184 AD.

The Archaeology section offers a walk through the different eras that are found in four exhibition halls across two floors. The eras include the Assyrian, Babylonian, Hittite, Neolithic, Chalcolithic and Bronze age. Throughout visitors will find Clothes, handworks, doors with fine detail and even tools and jewellery made of bronze and silver.  One of the Key artefacts is the 9500-year-old Sculpture, which is the largest life-size human sculpture.
