Zeugma Mosaic Museum
Zeugma Mosaic Museum is one of the biggest mosaic museums in the world. It contains over 1000 metres of mosaics from the nearby ancient town of Zeugma, the town is thought to have been founded by a general of Alexander the Greats army. The treasure that was found at the sight went relatively unknown until 2000 when plans for a dam along the river Euphrates would have left the ancient town permanently flooded.
Mosaic of different sizes and designs have been found and aftercare, the majority have been moved to the museum. This 7,500 square-foot exhibition centre offers a fantastic view of some of the most famous mosaics around, with some of the building pieces placed to make the whole room feel like an authentic Greek building.
