The city of Van is found in eastern Turkey with stunning views of Lake Van from the eastern shore. This historic landscape offers amazing views of the hills and mountains with the blue waters stretching across the vista, waterside cafes serve traditional drinks while watching boats coming and going delivering fresh fish.
The Van region offers a wide range of historic icons, ranging from the time of the Byzantine Era, through the Selcuk with ending with the Ottoman Empire. Part of the Silk Road was a prominent place for trade as they stop before heading to the city of Bursa. In and around Van there are many historic icons, in the town the ancient Van castle stands on a hill overlooking the city. Sitting in the lake is Akhtamar Island with an ancient Armenian church.
