Fethiye Castle stands on the hillside overlooking the town and the remains of ancient Telmessos. The castle is believed to have been built in the 11th century and was later renovated when the Knights of Rhodes used Fethiye as a command post in the 15th century. Today, only parts of the fortress remain, along with rock-cut tombs and inscriptions carved into the hillside.
