Kaklik Cave

KAKLIK CAVES - HIDDEN PAMUKKALE

Kaklik cave, known as Kaklik Magarasi or the Pamukkale cave, is located about 45 kilometres from the real Pamukkale. The cave is full of travertine waters, stalagmites, stalactites, and a large quantity of sulphur. The amount of sulphur makes the cave quite odorous.

The cave was formed over 2.5 million years ago, during the Pliocene Period.  The roof collapsed, allowing entrance.  The maximum depth is 14 metres, and inside there are several rimstone pools and waterfalls, which are thought to be beneficial in the treatment of skin diseases and arthritis.  Several of the walls receive enough sunlight to grow moss and climbing plants.  The cave will take around 30 minutes to explore, with wooden walkways leading through the 190-metre circle.
