Kameriye Island, also known as Kamelya Island, is a small island near Selimiye on the Bozburun Peninsula, and one of the area's most distinctive stops. Its main attraction is a historic monastery overlooking the sea, reached by a short and relatively easy climb from the shore. The monastery courtyard features a striking mosaic made from black, white and grey sea stones.
The island is particularly rewarding to visit by boat. After anchoring in the surrounding waters, visitors can swim ashore, explore the monastery ruins and enjoy the panoramic views across the Aegean. Kameriye Island is also commonly included in boat trips departing from Selimiye, making it an excellent addition to a Blue Cruise around the Bozburun Peninsula.
Combined with a visit to Selimiye and its surrounding historical remains, Kameriye offers a nice balance of nature, history and coastal scenery for travellers exploring the region by land or sea.
