Salt Lake (Tuz Golu)
Salt Lake is one of the most remarkable natural landscapes in Central Anatolia and a popular stop on the way between Cappadocia and Ankara. Covering a vast area across the provinces of Aksaray, Ankara and Konya, it is one of the largest salt lakes in Türkiye. During the dry summer months, the shallow waters recede and leave behind a striking white salt surface stretching towards the horizon.
The lake is also an important habitat for migratory birds, particularly flamingos, which can be seen in the area during certain times of the year. The bright white landscape, wide open surroundings and reflections on the shallow water make Salt Lake a memorable place to stop, especially around sunset.
Located along the main road between Cappadocia and Ankara, Salt Lake is easily accessible by car and is often included as a short scenic stop on journeys through Central Anatolia.
