Bodrum Ephesus To Istanbul

Today, you will be picked up from your accommodation in Bodrum and transferred to the Ephesus Region

After checking in at your hotel, you will have free time to relax or discover the city at your own pace.

Overnight in the Ephesus Region 

You will begin your day with a tour of the Ancient city of Ephesus and some of the highlights of the region.

The 3,000-year-old ancient city of Ephesus is one of the best-preserved ruins of a civilization; during the height of its power, there were over 200,000 people living in the city. The main street offers a look at the ruins of what was once a bustling metropolis, including the homes, public bathing houses, toilets, and the general layout of the city streets. When you wander outside of the centre, you will even find gymnasiums and a 25,000-seat amphitheatre.

During the Greek era, they built many grand temples in honour of the Gods and Goddesses; however, few can compare to the Temple of Artemis. Considered one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World, it has been said to put the other monuments to shame. A famous Greek poet said that the only other site that can surpass its glory is Mount Olympus in Northern Greece.

Now you will head to the humble home hidden in the hills that once belonged to the Virgin Mary. There is not much in the structure itself; it just contains a dining space, a living and sleeping room, and an altar for prayer. The one luxury is the well outside of the house that was used just for the inhabitants of the home.

IsaBey Mosque is an ancient place of worship that was designed for the leader of this region of the Aydinid Dynasty. This mosque was built with the leader Isa Bey in mind. There are two entrances, to the east and west, both with fountains that allow for pre-prayer washing. Originally, there were two minarets where the call to prayer would have been sung; however, one has been totally destroyed, and the other has the top section missing. Inside the open hall, the tall ceilings and large windows offer plenty of light to walk around this ancient place of worship.

You will be able to take the time to relax on this free day of the tour, or we have a couple of optional tours if you want to get out and about in the Ephesus region.

You will be picked up from your hotel around 21:00 and head to the bus station for an overnight bus to Istanbul.
