Aphrodisias is an ancient city that was named after the Goddess Aphrodite. This ancient metropolis prominently worshipped her and was commonly known as the city of love for this. Unfortunately, the city was abandoned after earthquakes in the 4th and 7th centuries that destroyed many of the buildings and added a new flood zone on one side.
