This mornings journey will take you to Pamukkale, translated means cotton castle, and as soon as you see the white calcified pools of water that have trickled their way down the mountainside since time began, you will understand why. The waters are warm, thermal and calcium filled coming from deep within the earth, for centuries they have been known for their healing properties and because of this people have always flocked here especially before the era of modern medicine, at the top of this mountain the city of Hierapolis of which only the remains can be seen today, is scattered far and wide with an amazing almost intact amphitheatre and many other ruins, all clues to the size and wealth of the people that once lived here.

Don’t forget to bring along a swimming costume as you will be able to walk in the pools and there is also a large thermal pool where you can swim among the ancient ruins that lay just beneath the water's surface. In the evening we will transfer you to the Ephesus region and back to your hotel.

09
Ephesus Ancient City

This city will stay in your heart forever, of course, it’s a mighty place and every inch in every direction reminds us of the majesty and grandeur that this city once was with columns and pillars from marble streets to the buildings that are so incredibly preserved that we can see exactly how life was lived here from the civic and government buildings including the prison to the shops and courthouses and along to the latrines, brothel, library of Celsus, past the agora and on to the grand amphıtheatre where you can sit today in the upper seats and see the main long trade road where the ships would dock and unload their wares from across the globe Ephesus was at the time one of the most influential trading cities on earth, but there is more to Ephesus than the artefacts here, it’s the atmosphere that you will take with you.

There is more to see as just outside the city limits, it is widely believed that Mary the mother of Christ lived out the last of her days in a humble home on Bulbul Mountainside and you will see the house, grounds and baptismal font before travelling to the Temple of Artemis, the temple is long gone but the foundations show the size of this huge wonder of the world, lastly, you will visit the Isabey Mosque with its beautiful decorations covering this building which dates back to 1374 giving us a clear window on Seljukian architecture.
