Konya is a beautiful city and best known for the spiritual and mystical order of the whirling dervishes. An ancient city where people have lived for over 3000 years, and during the times since it has been conquered and ruled by the Seljukians, Byzantinians, Romans, and the Ottomans till 1923, when it became part of the Turkish Republic.

The Konya of today is a large, thriving, vibrant, and modern city scattered with fantastic museums and beautiful mosques, and also some of the country's oldest and best-preserved madrasas. It is here that you will visit the many places throughout the city that depict the fascinating life of the great Sufi Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi, the founder and spiritual leader of the Mevlana order.

You will also go to the city's grand bazaar; maybe you would like to try your bartering skills. Later, we will take you to the Felt House, where even today the handmade crafted items are still made in the original traditional way, a time-worn, handed-down skill through generations over 2 and a half thousand years; you will be able to see how the process of felt is made.

The small quaint village of Sille is the last stop of the tour today, just north of Konya. The Hagia Eleni Church was built by the Romans, and the village has a fascinating history that your tour guide will tell you all about.

At the end of your day in Konya, we will drive to Cappadocia, and you will be taken to your accommodation in Cappadocia.

This extra activity takes place before the start of your full-day south Cappadocia tour and costs extra

Full-Day North Cappadocia Tour
Cappadocia is an ancient land, with evidence of existence as far back as the troglodytes who carved out dwellings from the rock faces. Much later, we see evidence of the daily life of the early Christians who fled from persecution and made these rock dwellings their home; the mass expansion and development they made are astonishing

Today you will visit the open-air museum where hundreds of churches and monasteries are highly decorated with frescoes and mosaics that have survived for thousands of years; their colours are bright and still clear to this day. You will also go to a lovely old village of Avanos where, for generation after generation, the skill of pottery has been taught and is wonderful to watch; the clay is taken from the red river running through the village. You will also go up to Goreme Esentepe with some of the most stunning panoramic views of this region.

09
Ephesus Ancient City

This city will stay in your heart forever, of course, it’s a mighty place and every inch in every direction reminds us of the majesty and grandeur that this city once was with columns and pillars from marble streets to the buildings that are so incredibly preserved that we can see exactly how life was lived here from the civic and government buildings including the prison to the shops and courthouses and along to the latrines, brothel, library of Celsus, past the agora and on to the grand amphıtheatre where you can sit today in the upper seats and see the main long trade road where the ships would dock and unload their wares from across the globe Ephesus was at the time one of the most influential trading cities on earth, but there is more to Ephesus than the artefacts here, it’s the atmosphere that you will take with you.

There is more to see as just outside the city limits, it is widely believed that Mary the mother of Christ lived out the last of her days in a humble home on Bulbul Mountainside and you will see the house, grounds and baptismal font before travelling to the Temple of Artemis, the temple is long gone but the foundations show the size of this huge wonder of the world, lastly, you will visit the Isabey Mosque with its beautiful decorations covering this building which dates back to 1374 giving us a clear window on Seljukian architecture.
