Istanbul to Trabzon

Istanbul pick up and flight to Trabzon
Begin your tour with a domestic flight to the Trabzon region, and transfer to your new accommodation. You will receive flight details after booking, and after we receive your information. We always chose flights that are the most convenient of our customers on a case by case basis.

Trabzon City Tour
Today you will enjoy the wonders of the that the city of Trabzon has to offer. This ancient city has histories from different cultures that date back to the Ancient Greeks of the Byzantines. While having icons of the past, there are modern places of interest which make this destination a sight to behold. A modern icon that holds a place of significance amongst is Ataturk’s Pavilion, this villa was the holiday destination for Turkeys first president. The pavilion is not preserved with the original furniture and the gardens are maintained to offer a spectacular view inside and out. While here you will also visit some of the most beautiful mosques including; Mother of Yavuz Sultan Mosque, Iskender Pasa Mosque, and Fatih Mosque. While there are mosques here in the city some of the original places of worship can still be found, Kaymakli Monastery is an original Armenian national church that gained its name from serving a meal made of only dairy products.

History is an important part of Trabzon, with the Hagia Sofia being the sister museum to the one in Istanbul, it was once a Greek church that was converted to a mosque, today the building is now home to artefacts and items that show the history of the region. The Zagnos Bridge is a historic monument, commissioned by the son-in-law of Sultan Mehmet it has been maintained to keep the original Roman structure.

Trabzon held an important part in the region, being home to sultans as well as a crossing point of different cultures, it was also home to the Ottoman Empire’s most influential sultan. Sultan Suleyman was Commonly known as Suleman the magnificent in the western countries and in the Muslim countries he was known as Suleman the lawgiver, this was due to his ability to have created lost that balanced religion and the peace of the nation.

Uzungol is a fantastic Lakeside Town where modern life blends beautifully with the wonderous around.  With mountains in the distance and gentle slope hills close by this town makes for an idyllic place for hikes and walks and photographs, with many walking trails available this town is one of the most beautiful in this region of Turkey.

Sumela Monastery

Your tour begins at approximately 10:00 am with departure from the tour hotel.

You begin your day by going to the Altindere National Parks system or natural waterfalls. The stunning series of waterfalls is relaxing to listen to and beautiful to behold, here you will have a short break to allow for photographs.

From one small beauty to one breathtaking one. The tour will take you on a pleasant 15-minute walk to the observation point of Sumela Monastery. Here you can see the fantastic length of the monastery that has been carved into the cliff face. The point also offers a stunning panoramic view of the even green forest that sits below.

Following the time for photos at the monastery, you will visit two more natural wonders, the first being Cosandere Valley where you will have free time to explore. You will enjoy lunch at Zigana Pass, where you will be able to sit among the pine trees to savour your meal.

You will arrive at the Ancient Tortul Castle where you can test your bravery with a walk out onto the 240-metre-high glass observation platform. For those who make it out there, you will be rewarded with unparalleled panoramic views that make spectacular photographs.

Following here you will be able to enter a beautiful natural wonder. Karaca Caves, these caves were originally a study point for those in the Karadeniz Technical University to study the different types of minerals and rocks. Now, this natural wonder is open to the public with easy-to-navigate walkways and comfortable lighting, it is a true pleasure to see what nature can do underground.

Your final stop of the day is Hamsikoy, this peaceful region is made up of 5 villages that have grown and worked together. Farming is a prominent business here but with the freshest ingredients and traditional recipes, they make some of the best puddings called ‘sutlac’.

Leaving the peaceful area of Hamsikoy you will return to the city where you will be dropped off at your hotel.

Ayder Highlands, Storm Valley & Return to Istanbul

Today you will enjoy the wonders of Ayder.


Ayder Highlands Tour

As you travel along this journey you will see the region of Rize where the local craftsmen and women weave cotton fabrics and make tea from the local produces. This will be an ideal spot for a tea break as you travel.

Ayder is a fantastic an ancient bridge including the old ottoman Stonebridge in the storm valley village.  The whole area of Ayder is a stunning natural landscape filled with small villages and wonderous views, made famous in 1871 by allegations about hot springs in the region the wonderful natural plateaus and pastures and have drawn many people ever since.


Flight to Istanbul and drop off to Hotel

After visiting this wondrous region you will head back to Trabzon Airport where you can travel further in Turkey or to another Airport. Domestic flights from and back to Istanbul airport (open-ended) as well as transfer to accommodations are included in the price.
